My thoughts on the use of Artificial Intelligence

Intro

What was once envisioned as the future is not the present; AI has progressed faster than we imagined. Looking at recent human history the rapid growth of technology is uncanny and proceeds to grow at an exponential rate. In today's world AI is used everywhere, it's unavoidable.. too accessible too powerful. No matter where you go and what you do, if you have access to technology, AI is likely behind it in some way or form. My views on AI are very mixed, if I were to give it one word it would be impactful; negatively and positively.

My first encounter

Throughout my life I've always loved iron man. Honestly what kid didn't like Tony Stark he was rich, smart and had the most complex AI systems. Every kid only dreamed of having their own J.A.R.V.I.S AI system. Now that dream is accessible, obviously not building iron man suits but the intelligence is there and accessible to the public space.

During my time at the Delaware Area Career Center, in the cybersecurity program I remember one of my friends referencing Chat-GPT for the first time. He was using it to try to make code and ask questions but honestly I wasn't too entertained because it was fairly dumb. Fast forward 4 days and in 2026 Open AI is one of the most successful companies and every tech company wants to adopt their own models to release to the public and every other company wants to implement AI to enhance their work flow.

Why I think AI is necessary

Personally I love the growth of technology, and I would be lying if I said AI hasn't had an impact of me. AI can be used for many positive things. Throughout college I've taken some rigorous CSE at @OSU and some concepts I cant fully grasp from lecture. I always felt like when I was in class the lectures were meant to cram as much info into your brain as possible without actually having a full understanding of what you're in taking. Honestly this is one of the reason I disliked some of my courses but with AI I was able to ask it specific niche questions about certain topics and go down an iceberg and rabbit hole of questions my professor wouldn't be able to answer or wouldn't want to answer due to sheer amount. With his tool I was able to learn in the most effective and productive way possible and I did help lighten my college experience when it came time to prepare for exams.

AI is also really cheap (most times free) to use, For simple questions you get a direct answer to what you're looking for without having to pay any money. This is very good for people trying to enhance different projects and programs, thats why so many companies enhance these technologies. It makes workflow no matter what world easier whether its scanning networks or replying to emails, AIs can really do anything you ask it to do.

Issues with AI

There are some big issues with AI that truly worry me. AI is an amazing tool but with all amazing tools there are major pros and cons. AI has just as many cons as pros, and that's what truly worries me.

Overly Reliant

I feel like there are instances where people are overly reliant on AI to do simple tasks. Yes it's very convent in my eyes and it saves alot of time but sometimes I feel as if people use it as the answer to alot of their problems. I knew someone who used AI to help them grieve a death which was something ive never seen before. I also know AI is trained to more or less tell you what you want to hear or even alot of times tell you false information. Alot of people reads their outputs as the truth and gives the artificial intelligence final say on many parts of their life.

At first this wasn't an issue because AI wasn't as smart when OPEN AI released the first versions on GPT, but now its smart enough to feed you anything you need or want to know weather you asked for it directly or not and I think its very important for people to be responsible for verifying the information they consume from these chat bots.

Job Saturation

This is a big topic I feared for the longest, AI chatbots being smart enough to replace human developers. I mean who wouldn't want to replace a humans who are prone to errors and fatigue with a robot who runs 24/7, gets paidless and understands you through a simple prompt. They chatbots also can have access to all the information in the world within seconds. Any big corporation would be outright stupid to not implement this in their daily regimen.

Personally I feel like this pushes us to a world similar to the movie wall-e, yes its a bit cliche but that movie was set in the future where human relied on robots to do everything leaving them unintelligent and de evolved. Unfortunately, I feel like the human race is slowly but surely moving in that direction because I see more and more company lay off and replace human workers with chat bots, relying on them to run their company.
